Search Engine Optimization 101: The Fundamentals For True Beginners

If you’re a beginner to SEO, this is the place to start. In this post, I’m going to explain everything you need to know to get started with SEO on your website.

SEO is broken down into two major components: “on-page” and “off-page” SEO.

The way I like to look at it, on-page SEO is the way you get your site into the game, so to speak. It’s how Google will know what keyword you want to rank your site for. They won’t always oblige, but the on-page elements will be your jumping off point and you need to tend to these factors correctly so that you give you site the best possible chance to make it onto the first page.

Before I get into the specific factors, I want to point out that you should target ONE KEYWORD per page of your site, whether that’s a home page or inner page. If you try to target more than one, you’ll confuse Google and your site may not rank.

So if Google decides to rank your page for multiple keywords, consider it a bonus. If you intend for your site to rank for multiple keywords, then plan to make multiple pages and target individual keywords with the following principles in mind.

Many webmasters make the mistake of thinking SEO happens fast.

I don’t know how this happens, but many people get the idea that they can buy a domain, put a website and their site will be ranking on the first page within the first week, or even the first month. This is the biggest mistake you could possibly make in SEO. This short post is going to explain to you why you need to treat this like a marathon and not a sprint.

Yes, it is possible for your site to rank on the first page within a week. Is it probable or even something to expect? Absolutely not.

And if this does happen, it is probably because there is little to no competition for that keyword. What that means in 99.9% of cases is that the keyword is not worth your time.

So if you want to rank for keywords of value, you are going to need to be patient. Furthermore, you are going to need to have reasonable expectations based on your competition. You will also need to budget your time and money correctly. If you don’t do this, you are headed for certain failure.

Ok, so you’ve got an idea about how you can capitalize on on hot trends from the previous post… And perhaps already have an ideo about what you’re going to build a blog around.

Now what? How will you monetize it?

You need to test and track and with a little experience factor in your own experience and judgement.

The more you refine your process of matching hot trends with other ways of monetizing your hot trend blog, the more money you will make. You can find an affiliate program that makes sense to use to monetize your hot trend blog with for just about any hot trend. Just think outside of the box and do some looking around. That’s what Google is for!

Did you know that Google’s Hot Trends is a measurement of Google search trends?

It is similar to Google Trends and Google Zeitgeist, except that it is updated multiple times per day.

The service does not measure the absolute popularity of search terms, as these don’t tend to change much over time. Instead, Hot Trends looks for terms that have rapidly gained popularity relative to their previous rank or the previous average number of times a term has been searched for on Google.

What Google’s Hot Trends and other Google services like Google Insights and Googles Check Out Trends allows us to do is identify items of intense interest online and make determinations as to whether or not those items of
interest can be quickly capitalized on using a system that will attract large amounts of traffic to a monetized blog.

However there are things you will want to consider when choosing a hot trend to profit by:

• How HOT is the trend?
• When or if the trend has peaked
